Babri Masjid was the largest mosque in India situated at Ayodhya till 1992 when it was demolished in December 6, 1992 by Kar Sevaks with the reasons that a Ram temple was situated there previously. The political rally and riot involved in destroying the mosque involved 15 thousand people. The demolition was followed several communal riots in India. Many Hindu temples were destroyed in Pakistan and Britain followed by the incident. Anju Gupta a police officer who was in charge of security of L K Advani a senior BJP leader said that L K Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi who were present near the mosque at the time of the incident made speeches that the Ram temple will be built there itself. She also revealed that the BJP leaders expressed happiness on hearing that the Mosque was being demolished.
