    Direction of Liberapedia

    October 6, 2018 by WaxPlanck

    I am looking to make the website more like Wikipedia. This site is very small relative to Wikipedia and our closer relative Rational Wiki, a more successful version of Liberapedia. I am creating and editing both political and non-political articles. This is not just supposed to be a political site, although it has a political element. Liberapedia is starting to shrink and I am keeping it going by creating political and nonpolitical articles. This site should be an encyclopedia.

    If you have been following internet news lately, you may have heard that bitcoin has dropped below $6,000 apiece. This is not in it of itself a good or bad thing, but it seems to be a good thing because a transformation of wealth inside of the Bitcoin ecosystem is occuring. The reason that I believe this is because a Wall Street "wolf" is telling people to "get out of bitcoin" which may bee the biggest mistake Wall Street ever makes because of the decentralized nature of the currency. The price has since rebounded to $6,600 as of when this post has been written on July 7, 2018. If more people buy bitcoin, it will become less correlated with the market because it is becoming independent of the Wall Street fat-cats that don't like bitcoin be…

    There has been a lot of talk around cryptocurrencies, particuarly Bitcoin. But, there is another cryptocurrency called Dogecoin.

    1. Dogecoin mining is unlimited.

    There has been quite a bit of talking around block halvings, the technique that the Bitcoin software uses to control the supply of coins. Although Dogecoin used block halvings in the beginning, this was just to create a supply base of around 95 billion coins. (There are 115 billion coins now and there is a linear inflation rate of 5 billion coins per year.) If you mine a block of dogecoin after the first two years, you get 10,000 dogecoins each time, year after year. (If you mine a block of bitcoin, you will get much less if you mine another one one decade later.) This inflation cre…

    Liberal Words

    March 24, 2018 by WaxPlanck

    This is a list of liberal words that run parallel to and against the conservative ones taken from Conservapedia.

    TP1: The liberal substitute for AM, time period 1 abbreviated.

    TP2: The liberal substitute for PM, time period 2 abbreviated.

    Correctness: The liberal substitute for accuracy, an already used English word.

    Majornode: The liberal substitute for Achilles heel, originating from an attacking party taking control of a majority of nodes on a network such as Tor or Bitcoin. A reason for this word is because we are atheists and don’t want to worship relics of the past in our language.

    Actionism: The liberal substitute for activism.

    Process method: The liberal substitute for algorithm which Conservapedia says is conservative. A process method …

    Wolfenstein?

    January 28, 2018 by CommanderOz

    I noticed that the alt right got very upset at the release of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (even calling it SJW propaganda), which has always been about killing Nazis since the release of Castle Wolfenstein back in 1981. Should an article on the game series be created based on this?

    iSideWith Quiz

    May 29, 2017 by AWolfWithAnUzi

    Recently I've found this website called "iSideWith.com" which is a website that has you take a servery, and matches you with the candidates and political parties that most closely align with your views based on the user's responses and how important they think each issue stated in the question is. You could either take the basic 34 question quiz, or the full 131 question quiz. There exist quizzes for many different nations, so this isn't just exclusive to U.S. politics. It will tell you how much you agree with each candidate/party, place you on the political compass, and tell you stand on various themes (I.E. capitalism vs socialism) there's also an option where you can compare with others that have taken the quiz.

    Christian Sharia Watch

    April 16, 2017 by Rushwrj13

    Hello, Rushwrj13 here, and I've decided to make this blog page in order to follow up with recent bills, speeches, etc that promote or that would be considered as "Christian Sharia". This is very similar to Right Wing Watch. In fact, it is named after the site.

    April 16, 2017: Kentucky Government now requires all documents to say "in the year of our Lord".

    Not only does this violate the Separation of Church and State, but it also makes no sense. Wouldn't the "Year of our Lord" in the Christian context be sometime between 5 BCE and 5 CE?

    What does this have to do with liberals?

    Well while it's directly a political issue, I've seen many on Occupy Democrats who have claimed such and such. And so it begs me to ask. Considering that it was an Englishman (of Norman ancestry) who coined the word "bro" in its loving, slang usage (he wrote a memoir; his name is John Evelyn). The word taking on friend.

    Conservatives are attacking Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of women's reproductive health services in the country.  It's of course a well known, well published ongoing effort.  Yet, for all the hooplah, there are parts of the story that just don't seem to be newsworthy, hmm.

    I'd probably not have noticed had it not been for some conservative friends on social media.  I first became aware of a furor among area conservatives over "free speach" issues at a local University.  It seems that professors teaching some "women's studies" and "ethnic studies" classes were requiring their students to assume a subservient roll to students of the studied group durring some classes, to try to teach the emotional impact of discrimination.  Worse …

    Someone added a Page on Confederate flags recently, and as I edited it I was reminded of something which I've been wondering about for some time.  Can we go too far in removing reminders of our intolerant past?  If we remove all the reminders, will we imagine that the problems of race and inequality borne of racism don't still exist?

    For many Americans, racism isn't an ever-present consideration.  Some minorities have become concentrated in majority communities or enclaves, while many rural areas have a very small minority population.  We in America aren't a homogenous mix of race and culture.  The truth is probably that many or even most Americans don't have regular contact with different groups in our adult lives.  For those of us who wer…

    There's an expression I hear now and then, "Don't hate the Player, Hate the Game".  I recently added a favorite page to my profile, and it reminded me of that expression.  I wondered what a genius like George Mason would have thought of modern politics or modern economics.  Would he have used something like that expression to remind us that sometimes it's not about the players, it's about the game?

    We can hate the corporations, the PACs or the elites that seem to be running and ruining the world, but they're just the Players.  We can even hate the Game, our Constitutions and systems of Laws that form the basis for our governments and economies.  Players will still play.  We lost track of one the guiding principle ages ago.  As long as we co…

    I really like my search engine.  I don't know about you guys, but sometimes when I'm a little bored I enter stuff into my search engine just to see what comes up.  Today the search term I chose was unnews.  After the standard paid results, here's the winners:

    1. ===UnNews:Main Page - Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia===
    2. ===Unnews | Facebook===
    3. ===United Nations News - UN News Centre===
    4. ===Fox News Channel===

    Some pretty interesting results, huh?  I'd never heard of UnNews from Uncyclopedia, and the UN News Centre is a pretty interesting site too.  But the Fox News Channel official site as the #4 result?  Did I mention that I really like my search engine?

    Wall of Shame

    April 18, 2013 by ShinyRaikou

    Last night the Senate voted on the Manchin-Toomey Bill. The Manchin-Toomey Bill was a moderate gun control bill that expanded background checks to gun shows and internet sales. 90% of the American public, along with a majority of Senators, more than 80% of Republicans, Democrats, NRA members, and gun owners, supported this bill. It was a bipartisan bill proposed by West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin (Democrat) and Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey (Republican), both of whom had A ratings from the NRA. It seems like a no brainer right? But even with everyone supporting it, even with it getting more votes in the Senate, the bill died. Why? Because of Rand Paul and Wayne La Pierre.

    The NRA is simply a mouthpiece for the gun industry, much like th…

    The Word "Helpmeet"

    April 17, 2013 by LM104

    Doing research into the Quiverfull Movement added a strange new word to my vocabulary: "Helpmeet." Although not in my mainstream vocabulary, and maybe not in yours either; the word shows up everywhere from wedding vows to regular conversation within the Quiverfull/Christian Patriarchy movement.  There is even a book entitled, "Created to be His Helpmeet," written for women of the Christian Right, which suggests a "smile and submit" way for Christian women to treat their husbands.

    What exactly is a helpmeet? Merriam-Webster online directed me to the word, "helpmate," which is defined as "One who is a companian and helper, especially a wife."

    If you click back to the original definition, you find two example sentences:

    exasperated, the army sur…

First of all, Marijuana is a gateway drug That can lead to harder drugs. Even though marijuana in itself cannot kill you It can lead to drugs that can. This explains Why drugs were so prevalent Before marijuana became illegal. Another thing that most people don't think about Is that the marijuana now is a lot stronger then It was in the 70s and even in the 80s. Not only this but, If marijuana was to be Legalize Parents would Probably smoke it around their children And this Largely Impact their growth and brain development. Europe's landmass is a lot bigger than some people tend to think- it finishes where the Ural Mountains and the Caucasus Mountains are. The centre of Europe is located in Lithuania. Geographical parts of the continent will be named with a miniscule letter, for example northern Europe, central Europe or southern Europe.

    Still, there are adjusted cultural boundaries, that we name with a capital letter - for example central Europe tends to be expanded as far as to Luxembourg and Switzerland culturally, but generally not include Belarus and Ukraine. This we call Central Europe. Similarly, northern Europe is geographically spanning from Russia to Iceland. Simple? Yes. Ignored? All the time!

    Last Friday (November 2, 2012) I got to wind down my birthday with an episode of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher. It opens with the usual ho-hum, pandering monologue (I've never been a big fan of his stand-up) and then Bill sits down to talk with photographer James Balog. Balog is yet another guest who has been engaged in the seemingly thankless and futile task of educating Americans and thus the world about the very real effects of climate change. He collected his photos of melting glaciers into a book, Ice: Portraits of Vanishing Glaciers, that few people will buy. It has been adapted into a documentary film, Chasing Ice which few people will see. Thus the match is lit that will later be thrown into my fueled rage.

    Next Maher introduces a…
