A map of Chile.

Chile is the longest, thinnest nation on Earth. It is located on the west coast of South America, and Spanish is spoken there. Chile shares a long border with Argentina.

During the late 1800s, the War of the Pacific took place. This was a campaign to acquire more land to the north, which Bolivia and Peru owned at that time. Chile won the war, and as a result, Bolivia became a landlocked country. Bolivia's lack of coast remains a major issue to this day.
