Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M) is the largest communist party in India. It controls government in the Indian states of Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura. The party was founded in 1964 as a split of the Communist Party of India (CPI). The Indian Marxists were violent like many other Marxists.

HistoryEdit

When it was a part of the CPI, it organized armed rebellions in several regions including Telangana, Tripura and Kerala. Later they became less violent and other more extreme Marxists, notably in Communist China criticized them for this. There was disagreement between those who wanted to cooperate with the Congress party which had links with the USSR and those who wanted to fight what they saw as the feudal social structure in India. In the 1960's China invaded India and divisions developed in the Communist Party of India between those who supported India and those who supported the Chinese invaders. Both sides used Marxist Jargon and ideology to try and justify their position.

NandigramEdit

Recently in the Indian village of Nandigram there was serious violence involving the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Basically it seems that one party seized land to build an industrial project which aimed to provide jobs for poor people. The peasants cared about keeping their land and those who hoped to benefit from the industrial project very much wanted it to go ahead. Both groups are poor and desperate. There was violence and people were killed on both sides.

One Marxist group supports the peasants, another Marxist group supports the poor people who hope to get jobs through the new development. Different Marxist sometimes disagree as intensely as different sects of Christianity as to what they see as true Marxism. Incidentally Marxism is as much faith based as Christianity.

But now the party has forgot their proletarian root and has become a pseudo-communist petty-bourgeoisie organization. [1]
The people Marxists despise as petty-bourgeoisie are often the more intelligent and better Educated People who can benefit society.

Marxist systems frequently lead to corruption at least as harmful as the corruption they fight. Stalinism is another example.
