Cuba is a small Communist island nation. Their former leader, Fidel Castro, is generally approved of by at least 60 per cent of the population though that doesn't mean very much as the Communists control propaganda, there isn't free speech in Cuba and the people can't find out what's wrong with their system. Castro's brother now takes his place, however he is also not much of a fan of the United States.
It is one of the most interesting nations on Earth.
Government run health system provides free health care to the people, at the expense that they have to stay there for their whole lives, unless your Celia Cruz or a Narco. Some people have tried to flee Cuba, then the US government sends them back to pretend they're the good guys.
Cuba has a literacy rate of 99.8%. It has an average life expectancy of 77.64 years, as well as a system of universal health care. It also has a rate of infant death lower than that of some developed countries. It has an HDI of 0.776, which is in the second quartile in HDI rankings. Barbados, a country in the first quartile, ranked as "very high" has an HDI of 0.793, only 0.017 HDI points away from Cuba. It is also the only country in the world to meet the WWF's definition of sustainable development. It has done all of this while having a trade embargo imposed by the United States.
