Fundamentalism is a form of religious belief which accepts uncritically the teachings of some ancient religious text and refuses to accept modern scientific developments when such developments contradict the revered text. Fundamentalists can be Christian, Muslim or belong to other religions.
One type of Extreme religious fundamentalist is someone who wishes to use a religious text for a world view instead of modern science.
Fundamentalism is dangerous in several areas
Danger With public educationEdit
Since a Christian fundamentalist believes a religious book and an interpretation that God made Human beings in 6004 BCE, the Christian fundamentalist wants this taught in science in public schools instead of what the normal person believes after the scientific method has been applied, that we evolved from an Ape which was a common ancestor with gorilla and chimpanzee via the genus Australopithecus. Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Education under Donald Trump wants prayer to be mandatory in public schools, which is one of the first steps in establishing Christian Sharia.
Danger With foreign policyEdit
The second danger is with foreign policy, and the irrational mentality of extreme religious fundamentalist might lead to a global thermo nuclear war because said extreme religious fundamentalist might think it's Armageddon and might see a Horse and think oh no prophesy revelation Jesus is telling me to go to War and hit the red button.
Thankfully, we live in a secular America that doesn't permit replacing the 14th amendment to the Constitution with the interpretation of Fred Phelps on Leviticus or 1 Corinthians or any of the other extreme interpretations of the Bible.
