Gabon is one of the relatively developed countries in Africa with a population of roughly a Million and a half. It has an HDI (Human Development Index) of 0.648. This is partially due to an abundance of petroleum. Gabon has the highest HDI of all countries on mainland Sub-Saharan Africa. It has a GDP per capita of about $16,000. The economy of Gabon is growing rapidly  but there is still Poverty.  Gabon was a French colony in the past, so French is spoken there.
