The Garden of Eden is a mythical place described in the Bible as the place God created for the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, to live in. Adam and Eve were mythical, too.

All the animals supposedly lived together in peace in the Garden of Eden, and Adam and Eve walked around totally naked. The story goes that Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden when they broke God's prohibition against eating the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.(Why the hell is the tree even there!?) Once they had eaten the fruit, they became aware of their nakedness and were ashamed. They covered their private parts with leaves (fig leaves, judging by the leaf of choice in classical paintings of the story). When God noticed that they had covered their nakedness he figured out that they must have eaten the forbidden fruit (He always was pretty quick on the uptake- but obviously not omniscient, also supported by the fact that he should have known they were going to eat the fruit).

Conservatives actually believe all these events really happened (and that the death penalty reduces violent crime). The story is obviously an allegory for the evolution of humans from being animals to becoming self aware homo sapiens. So the Bible actually supports the Theory of Evolution.

Possible location Edit

Legend has it that the Garden of Eden is located in Teaneck, New Jersey, but factual evidence has proven it is most likely in Moscow, Russia. It might also be in the cerebral cortex of Tony Blair's brain.
