Right Quite Honourable John Prescott MP was Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 until 2007. If ever you wanted the working class represented in politics, this was your man. Despite looking slightly out of place in Parliament, it is suggested he helped Labour keep in touch with more traditional left wing democratic socialist voters, while 'New Labour' gradually tried to gain new supporters. Many people criticised how he resorted to violence by punching a protestor who, disappointed with rising fuel prices, threw an egg at him. However it has since been pointed out that he probably didn't resort to violence, it was most likely his first choice.
