Lancashire is a county in the north west of England by the Irish Sea, (that's the channel between the UK mainland and Ireland). Yorkshire is in the north east and the Pennine range of mountains separate the two counties. Liverpool and Manchester are the largest and most important towns in Lancashire. Lancashire includes urban and rural areas.
During the 18th Century the Lancashire textile industry was an important part of the Industrial Revolution but it involved suffering as men, women and even children were forced to work something like 14 hours a day in textile mills.
