Arabic is spoken there, and most of the populace is Muslim. It has a territory known as Western Sahara, located to the south of the main portion of Morocco, which considers itself an independent state. During the Middle Ages, a people known as the Moors, a people native to Morocco, conquered Spain, ruling it for about 700 years. Spain was largely Muslim during this time.
