Narendra Damodardas Modi was the Chief Minster of the Indian state of Gujarat. There were suggestions that Modi did nothing to prevent Muslims being killed and wanted to make Gujarat a Muslim free state. His supporters say he could have done little to stop anti Muslim violence. Rightly or wrongly Modi has been called a merchant of death.
Narendra Modi later campaigned successfully to become India's Prime Minister:
[Modi] is seen by supporters as a dynamic man of the people. Opponents say he is little more than a rabid nationalist. On the good side the Indian Economy is growing dramatically under Modi's leadership. Modi has done a great deal to promote Solar power which is a form of Renewable energy in India and worldwide.
Narendra Damodardas Modi continues to be controversial:
People outside India are increasingly equating the country with mounting intolerance, argues Shashi Tharoor, MP for Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist BJP are making headlines the world over, and for the wrong reasons. To begin to improve India’s image in the international community, the prime minister needs to spread tolerance.

Can you imagine what it’s like to be dying in some dirty place with cockroaches biting you while you are still alive? I can’t -- though Scientologists let Lisa McPherson die that way. If you’ve the stomach for them here’s the Autopsy photos.
