Shinto or Shintoism is the traditional religion of Japan together with Buddhism . Many Japanese believe Shinto and Buddhism at the same time. Shinto involves many gods and goddesses. In Shinto spirits are called Kami.

Believers in Shintoism believe that place or object that has outstanding natural beauty is sacred in some way. Shinto isn't more rational than other religions but because of their Shinto beliefs the Japanese developed many beautiful forms or art and Japanese gardens are especially beautiful.
