Tennessee is a state in the southeast of the United States. Tennessee borders Kentucky and Virginia to the north; North Carolina to the east; Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi on the south; and Arkansas and Missouri on the Mississippi River to the west. Around some of the cities, notably Memphis, the Democrats are strong. In rural areas and to the east Republicans are strong. Eighty-nine percent of the people there are Christians and 40% are Baptists. Around 9% can see it doesn’t make sense to believe in God.
Politically, Tenessee has had an intriguing history. In 1920, it was the state that provided the necessary number of states ratify the Nineteenth amendment to the Constitution , this was a major vitory for the suffragists. Meanwhile, in 2000 Tennessee voted against its Senator and Vice President candidate Al Gore, and this was the only time in history where a Presidential candidate lost by the margin of his own home state.
