Zambia is a landlocked country in central Africa with a population of 14 - 15 Million. The Zambezi River flows through it, hence its name. It borders Angola, Botswana, the D R Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Zambia is mainly on a plateau and the impressive Victoria Falls which are a United Nations World Heritage Site are in Zambia.
Zambia is now a multi-party Democracy. Zambia has been relatively peaceful compared to other countries in the region. The Zambian Economy is now growing rapidly but Poverty is still widespread. Life expectancy is relatively low (just below 60) and the death rate is high, both are due to AIDS.
