A Zucchini or Courgette is a vegetable (I think) that is green and is nutritious. It is long and thin in shape like the Cucumber which is related to courgette/zucchini. It can't be eaten raw and when cooked it has a mushy texture. Many people make bread out of it.
Zucchinis/Courgettes originally were from Central America and South America but Christopher Colombus brought them over to the Mediterranean region of Europe. In Ancient Mexico plants like zucchini/courgette were grown as early as 9000 BCE but many modern varieties of the Plant were developed more recently.
